In 10 Years with the Monty I Never did this...
I was getting ready to release the Montana from the truck. I had chocked the wheels opened the hitch and she released fine as it always has, but.....I forgot to release the trailer break away cable!! I never, ever did this before in 10 years with the trailer. So I reinserted the thingy into the break away switch. Is there anything I need to reset or be aware of when we break camp in a week or so? It is so easy to make a dumb mistake! :-) Happy Labor Day to all.
Happy camping!

As long as it slid in smoothly and you did not forcefully have to jam it in, all is good.

Done that twice and inserting it back carefully was all that was necessary.

That is probably something that should be done regularly to make sure it works. I will hitch up, lift the jacks, and pull the breakaway to verify the brakes do lock up. If they don't, then you have a problem. It is simply a switch that is normally open with the pin in, and when pulled, closes the contacts that send voltage to the brakes. Putting the pin back in just opens the contacts again, releasing the brakes on the trailer.

Hi
I pull mine several times a year to make sure it is working.

Don't know about several times, but I certainly do most every time before leaving a level spot. After hooking up and having everything ready to go, I'll pop it out and try pulling forward to see if there's a really good drag. Even with full batteries, the wheels won't lock up (unless I'm on gravel), but I can tell. I'll then get out, put the plastic thingie back in and do a complete walk around (with TVs parking lights on) making certain everything's lit & in place. No, I don't kick any tires.

There is nothing to "reset".

Nope, just replacing the pin back into the switch.. I have only pulled mine once but I have forgotten to unhook the electric cable twice, ripped the damn door off both times and had to replace the whole plug receiver..
