Campgrounds in coastal North or South Carolina

Jim and I are looking for a campground along coastal North or South Carolina. We would like to go for a few months every winter so we would need a place to put on site for 6 months and store there for the other 6 months. Anyone have any good ones to mention? With the gas prices we have decided not to buy a big truck to pull our Montana. We are going to look for a used rv down there and keep it there and leave our 3500RL here in Michigan. I have now retired and we are just trying to get our house on the market. Thanks for any input. Jim and Kathy (almost full-timing)

Jim/Kathy,

I know of a couple possibilities. The nicest place in the southern NC shores is probably Holiday Travel Park in Emerald Isle. It's beachfront. They have very nice seasonal sites, as well as
www.htpresort.com. I've stayed there several times (not seasonal).

Also, there's the Outer Banks (northern NC islands off the coast), but since we're not seasonal people, most of our stays have been for weekends. The nicest place is www.camphatteras.com but not sure what they offer for longer term. I know that there is a storage place across the street that drops the rig off for weekenders, but they also do long term storage for what you're after. Camp Hatteras is also beachfront (most of the Outer Banks places are --- it's not a very wide island(s).

Myrtle Beach Travel Park and Willow Tree. Check them out. We like them both.
