Exclamation Fresh water tank

our fresh water tank seems to have a problem on our High country 352 rl. when making a corner - left turns - water is coming out the overflow vent. thank level has gone from full to 1/3 on the gauges. And Ides what can be causing this?
Thanks

Bob, you need to stop making left turns..
But it might need some type of loop in the vent tube to stop this from happening.

If the old FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover, was able to travel wherever he wanted to go, and would not let his driver make any left turns, maybe it is possible to do this with your Monty, just to keep your water in the tank

You're lucky in that your trailer only loses water on left turns as my Montana loses water through the overflow vent when starting to move forward, turning right or left and when stopping. Water also comes out the vent when going up an incline.

Mr P - that's a big drip - I'm going to have to fill mine and see when it looses water

That is normal when the tank is full.

My Montana is the fifth fifth wheel that I have owned and the only trailer that looses water. It went from full to 1/3 in 600 miles of driving in one day. I don't think that it should loose that amount of water. The tank does not have any leaks as I can fill the tank at home and let it sit for a week and the tank is still full and no wet spots anywhere under the trailer.

Mine is right next to the fresh water fill and is high enough it's never been an issue. Not sure how big the vent is but if it were easily accessible I'd just put a cork or a rubber hole plug in it when traveling. Would need to remove it when filling the tank.

I have had no issues with our Montana but on our SOB if I filled the fresh until it overflowed it would cause the siphoning effect. So I always made sure the tank wasn't overfilled and had no more problems after that. Very annoying when you get to your destination and have very little water in your tank.

I have seen this in action on other 5th wheels (can you say Redwood?). Normally the fill port (if you have one) or the vent port are too high to enable a siphon effect draining the tank. But that is the logical explanation. Since you don't indicate the year and model of your 5th wheel, I would pull the access panel and see if there is a separate overflow line hanging down at tank level.

As long as the vent connection at the tank is near the top, it could only siphon water out until the water dropped to the vent connection. If, for some reason, the vent was placed closer to the bottom of the tank, then the siphon issue would continue until until the water reached that level. You also would need an additional vent to allow air into the tank to replace the water that is siphoned out, so maybe the connection at the tank is faulty, cracked at the tank where the vent flange is attached.

The trailer is a 2015 3790RD with the fill in the convenience center. A friend was following me and said when I took a corner or started off from a stop, water would come out of the overflow vent. Water would also come out of the overflow vent when going up an an incline (we were in the mountains). I think the problem is that the vent is probably at the same height as the top of the water tank and it gets to siphoning the water out. With some work I could probably move the vent higher as all of my previous fivers had the vent at least a foot higher than the tank.
