washer/dryer combo problem

We have a Splendide 2000 S washer/dryer combo. We bought it used, so not sure what year it is, but it has worked beautifully for us going on 3 years now. But yesterday, during the drying cycle, it started making a very loud screeching sound. It wouldn't start the noise until it was in the full spinning part of the cycle. At first, I thought maybe a coin or something was caught inside the rubber sealing on the door, but it wasn't. Has anyone experienced this, and if so, what did it turn out to be? Just trying to decide if its something my husband can fix or if I need to call a tech.

Check the inside of the washer drum for anything(nail/wire, etc.) That might be protruding thru the holes. If it was something that got thru those holes it might be hard to find without a partial disassemble.

My wife thinks I can't do anything by myself. I'm sure with your help he can fix it.

Pull the bottom cover off and check the drain area for a object such as a coin or something that may be in the pump

My husband had already done that and found nothing. We went ahead and ordered a new Splendide 2100xc this morning. I wanted a bigger drum capacity anyway. Our son, who uses his fifth wheel toy hauler for pleasure only is going to try to fix the old one and put it in his RV. Hopefully, it won't be anything more expensive than what the unit is worth to begin with.
