Steelpony 5555 you can get a Cobra that has all controls on the mike and mount the very small "box" anywhere under the dash you want. If your coming to the Fall Rally, come and take a look at mine if you have any other questions.

We keep one in the truck. It gives weather alerts in addition to keeping track of traffic issues. I don't keep it on all of the time, but I turn it on when we start hitting traffic. Many times you need to know what lane to be in and it really helps with that.

I had one until it got stolen.
When I had it, I used "Truck Stop Cutie" as a handle (from the Eddie Rabbitt song). A female with a Southern drawl on the radio can always get someone to talk, but sadly too many CB conversations deteriorate quickly: "Sorry, honey, I'm just a baby (a lie, but also from the song); going 10-7."

I couldn't find room for the CB and my 8 track player so the CB had to go.
I just couldn't resist, sorry!

Still looking for a place to mount my new one in my GMC. "Got my ears on" most of the time on trips outside the Denver area.

Very seldom use it. Do use it in heavy traffic to avoid tie ups. It is a Cobra all-in-one hand unit. I have it hard wired to a up fitter switch so that it automatically comes on when I start up, but I have the squelch up fairly high.

Yes and used it on last big trip. Annoying sometimes but great when traffic backs up. Truckers tell you how to go around. Did that near Memphis in April. Also they work when cell phones go down! During Zombie attackes will come in handy !

Cobra all in one for the Honda car for when we travel to Florida. It worked out so well we may get one for the truck to replace the big guy we have in there now.

After my days, weeks, months and years in the super rig, I doubt I could manipulate down the road without a CB. It is a means for a lot of information, as already stated, and a way to communicate with old trucker Friends from time to time. If you see a Monty with "Steve - Susie and Friends, Classic Country Music" on the front and back, give a shout to "Guitar Picker"

I installed an older Radio Shack unit I was given , last year. That way another couple we were travelling with and we could stay in contact and give some notice when pulling off or having trouble.
We did and it was nice to be able to tell them we needed a repair and would catch up rather than just losing them and then wondering where everyone was.
Yes the cell phone could have done it also but the radio was quicker.
I'm not sure we will use it much in the future as our friends had to hang up their hitch.
I found when not using it for keeping in touch that there are a lot of bozos who literally just make noise monopolizing the channel. I'll experiment again this year for legit info such as you suggest but if I get much of the bozos I may pull it to save the space and my hearing.

If anybody has some suggestions on where to mount one in Dodge 3500 it would be appreciated. Just don't know where I want to put it.

I have the same question on my Silverado. "Where can I mount it?" Cobra model 75 it's a unit that has everything in the Mic including a weather radio. I tried one out I borrowed from a friend on my last trip but It didn't seem to do very well. I really suspect was the cause was the antenna was't trimmed for the best Standing wave. and not the radio itself.

We had a CB in the old truck but when we bought the new one we couldn't find a place to put it so we carry it in the back with a magnet antena in case we caravan and have a handheld in the truck for emergencies.

Well for lack of and space under the dash, I used heavy duty stick-on velcro and mounted on the top of the dash, easy to see and reach.

I had a Cobra Front speaker mounted CB installed in my 11 Ram 3500 in the front pocket of the center counsel. It is mounted in the vertical position as the speaker is built into the front of the CB. Works really well and is out of the way when not in use. Only downside is I had to find a new place to put my sunglasses as I kept them in that smaller pocket/tray before having the CB installed.

Running a Galaxy 959 with a top loaded firestick. It gets out very well. I mainly using when travel with others.. not on ch19. Usually when we are traveling solo then we hang out on 19.. but other than that its on a different channel. Sometimes they are so foul mouthed it makes even me blush!
Its a pretty big radio, I have it in the side pocket of the center console. If anyone is interested I can post a pic of the install.

I use one while traveling and listen to the truckers. I definiely do more listening than talking. It was a challenge finding a mounting spot, but they come in small packages these days.
