Pigeon Forge in April

Ok folks I need a little advice here. Leaving Gulf Shores 1st of April and want to head towards MI and be there about May 1. My qustion is, would it be wise to leave here and go to Savanah GA. and stay maybe a week or so, then gradualy work our way towards Pigeon Forge by say around the 20th of April. Am I going to run into snow at that time of year in the smokies. My guess is I might. And If I do is there a good way to avoid this snow in the higher elevations. Just looking for anyone that has done this. Thanks in advance.

I doubt you will have snow that late.

Dave,
It is very unlikely you will encounter any adverse weather that late in April. To put things in perspective, we are also in Gulf Shores, and we live about 60 miles from Pigeon Forge. We go home on March 1 every year. If anything, after about Mar 15 in that area things will turn spring like and the freeze is generally over.

Thanks to all for the info. Makes things a whole lot easier as far as planning.

Vangoes...we are staying at Gulf State Park and find this park very nice. And from the info I have been told here it was much better before the hurricane went through and destroyed a lot of stuff. By the way you live in a very nice area also. Love that Pigeon Forge area a lot.

Thanks Bobby and belldog. Looking forward to that area. Been there once and wanted to go back and catch a few things we didn't the last time there.
