Battery Status
I know the monitor panel in our Montana’s is not a favorite, but I am watching the BATTERY STATUS in our 07-Mountianeer w/2-12V and the best I have seen is...............
C= CHARGED (NEVER)
G= GOOD (most of the time)
F= FAIR (about 20 %of the time)
L=LOW (NEVER)
We are currently plugged into a 50 A service and I would think the batteries would be fully charged?? The batteries are only 4 months old, and I check the water level often

Don't trust the monitor panel. If you are concerned, put a voltmeter on the batteries. Should read 13-14 volts.

Remember it is only a trickle charge that is sent to the batteries while plugged in to the campground electric. Try putting a traditional battery charger on them and see if that makes a difference. That is what I do.

Thanks Guys for the help. I think a VOLT METER hard wired at the BATTERIES would be the answer. The Montana is plugged in all the time at home...so I would look for fully charged batteries.

Ok guys I thought I read some where on the boards that you weren't supposed to leave your batteries on all of the time. When parked you were supposed to turn your battery disconnect to the off position.
Did I just dream this up? We keep our rig plugged in all of the time at our house, but now have the battery disconnect in the off position.

It all depends what your converter is capable of doing. If you have one of the newer smart charger types, they can be left on all the time and will respond to the apparent state of the battery. If you have the Iota brand converter/charger, you will need to get a little plug-in add-on to get that capability. It is described in the fine print of the leaflet that should have come with trailer.

When you check the battery with a volt meter disconnect a terminal so you are just checking battery voltage and not the charger and the battery.

Well, I just read the info on the IOTA site concerning the IQ4 module. It is very confusing. I have the DLS-75 model in my unit. The features page says the DLS-75 is also available with an IQ smart controller already integrated into the unit. ("available" being the confusing term here) It also features a dual voltage plug which raises the output voltage from 13.6 to 14.2 for rapid charging. The owners manual says that if you have the integrated IQ smart charger then two step charging is not needed and the Dual Voltage Jack is disabled.
When you click on the link for the IQ Smart Charger it states that "Most DLS Models are avialable with the IQ Smart Charger already internally integrated within the unit. (again, how do you know if yours has that option?)
Finally, reviewing the DLS-75 installation manual I discovered that IOTA models with an internal IQ4 smart charger have a green LED on the fan end of the unit that will indicate which charging phase the IOTA unit is in. Since this indicator is "Only on IOTA models with internal IQ4"
So I will check my new converter when I take my unit back to the dealer this week to see if I have the IQ4 or have to add it.
