Splendide
Santa, being the fine, generous all around nice guy that he is, has decided to give the DW a Splendide W/D for Christmas. Just one question...vented or ventless...advantages/disadvantages??

I have a Splendide 2001 vented model.I would go with the vented over the non-vented model. From what i`am told the ventless models take a long time to dry.One of the best add-ons I have done to my rig.You just have to get use too doing smaller loads.

Bert
Go vented. ventless takes too much time to dry the clothes. We have had ours since 2000, in three RVs. Measure the interior of the closet because there are two different models out there and one is too large. The 3475 has the same closet as the 3400. I used a flat vent pipe in the rear and vented it out the side. My dealer installed it for me along with moveing the washer/dryer for us. I also rehung the doors to open in the center. it works better...Ken

Bert,
If you go with the Splendide stackables (wash and dry same time) they are only vented versions. The combo units have both types, vented or non.
We have decided to go with the Splendide Ariston stackables that require a vent, as they are not that much more money and you can double your loads by running the washer and dryer at the same time. I don't want moisture in the trailer any more than it gets already.

We have the vent one all in one, works OK, wife could not live without it. Runs at least two loads each night we camp.

When we did the PDI on our new 3295 the tech mentioned that I needed to ensure the W/D were mounted well and secure. He said he has seen many combinations come through the folding door because they are top heavy.
Good luck.

John,
CW was telling me the same thing - got to get the upper bracket that secures the dryer separately. Also allows you to slide the dryer out over the top of the washer to service it.

I for one have the ventless and love it. I am positive it takes a bit longer to dry, but the clothes come out nice and humid, no wrinkles! I would hate not having it!

Rich,
I am also considering the 2100 Splendide. I know what a good negotiator you are. So, I was wondering if you could share what price you are paying for the unit installed?
Thanks, Yvonne

..Well you got one heck of a deal on that,,C.W wants 949.00 +188.00 install fee+ 105.00 .Shipping +35.99 vent kit +76.24 Ohio Tax. I have seen the 2100 from 1075 to 979.00. EX: http://www.bigdiscountrv.com/washer_splendide.htm 939.00 was the lowest price I found on the internet.

I believe the vented Splendide combination units far outsell the non vented units and that in itself should tell you something. We have the vented unit and just love it. The only time you even know it is running is when it hits the spin cycle and if it is installed in the front closet , it will shake your unit a wee bit. A front tripod helps but your neighbors might think you are just a frisky couple and that is fine too.
Venting is a much more efficient way of getting moisture out of the unit and my dealer installed my unit for 1000 bucks Canadian which was a good deal. We would never consider owning another RV without a clothes washer/dryer. 30 years of using overcrowded dirty CG laundromats is gone for good. Yes we have stayed in upscale CGs that had clean, pleasant laundromats but they are few and far between. Some CG laundromats's we have used were open to the public and they are gross.
A load of baby diapers with the poop still there is not uncommon. A true slob loves abusing public facilities and slobs love laundromats. Take care.

We have the "Bendix" ventless W/D which is the predecessor to the Splendide. This one came out of a Bounder MH. The owner had never used it and he wanted to use the space for a cabinet. It was free if I would come and uninstall it. The Mountaineer TT did not have a space for the W/D so I removed the CRT televison and replaced it with a LCD. I then cut an opening facing into the bathroom, plumbed the drain and water connections and we have a W/D in our Mountaineer TT. People that see it think it came from the factory!! Anyway, the "ventless" W/D does not add moisture to the air in the coach. "Ventless" is a bit of a misnomer. The ventless W/D acutally blows warm air over the clothes just as a vented dryer does. This warm air is then circulated through a condensing coil with cool water sprayed over it. The condensate is then pumped out the drain into the gray water tank. The "ventless" system dries a little slower but is not a real issue as we do not babysit the W/D. We put the clothes in the W/D and two hours later take out clean dry clothes. As Tara noted the clothes have just a hint of dampness when you remove them. We shake out any wrinkles, the moisture evaporates, and then we fold them and put them away. The moisture evaporates very quickly. If I had purchased the W/D I would of probably bought the "vented" dryer, but the price was right and we're very happy with the one we have.
Here's a link to the installation: http://www.geocities.com/fulltimedre...d_tv_inst.html

Yvonnenid..In answer to your question..We hade the Splendide 2100 vented installed today..cost was 1179.00, 1038.00 for the W/D and vent kit and 2 hours labor at 70.00 per hour. Vent cover is one I had not seen before. It is the same color as the Montana and the vent itself is very small just a bit bigger than the hole drilled in the camper wall. Add 76.24 Ohio State tax for a total of 1255.24. Camper Worlds price was under 1400.00 if there is one near you.
