Problem with Heating Element in Water Heater

I just attempted to replace the Hot Water heating element in my Dometic water heater (3075 RL Montana). However it still does not heat the water. I think I am doing everything correctly but maybe not. I turn the switch at the tank to ON and I do not turn the Heater Switch ON inside the coach. Should they both be ON? It seems that if I turn the inside switch ON then the gas kicks ON. I would appreciate advice from someone who has used their electric heater element. I only discovered I had such a thing after owning this rig for over a year. I replaced the element which I think had been ON forever and was burned out.

The element will quickly burn out if there is no water in the tank. This doesn't affect propane. There is also a reset switch in the heater cabinet accessible from outside that may need depressed. Hope this helps.

Turning the switch on in the coach will only enable the propane. Do you have a breaker in your converter panel marked Hot Wtr? If so, then this switch should be turned on also for electricity to reach the heater. Also, when you take the door off the outside of the water heater you should see a switch that needs to be on in order for the water to heat. Possibly you've checked all these things already.

John,

Bingo is right - sounds like if you have the outside switch on but no heat - it might be the reset switch. There are two of them (1-110v and 1-12v) located behind rubber covered pads on the outside of the tank. Just push in on both of those and see if that fixes it.
