Max air vents??
Can someone tell how to take off my max air vents?? I know it's probably something simple, but I don't want to tear anything up or break something. I will be taking them off of the Mountaineer and putting them on the Big Sky.

There should be 4 bolts visible, remove them and the cover should lift off. This will expose the 4 brackets and they simply unbolt as well.

I'm not sure it is worth the trouble. Maybe you can talk your dealer into throwing them in with the Big Sky deal.
If you do take them off, you will find that they are held on by metal brackets, that should be screwed onto the side of the original vent. I have seen cases where the original installer just screwed them into the roof. If that is the case, I would leave the brackets in place. You can buy replacement brackets. If they are screwed into the side of the vent, then it is fairly easy to undo the nut and bolt to remove the Maxxair, and then unscrew the bracket from the vent, (or just leave them there and get new ones for your new trailer).
FYI, I tried using a vent cover called AeroVent, these look nice and can be opened from the top for cleaning, but they shattered from exposure to the sun after about 1 year, that is a shame because they are otherwise well designed, and use stainless steel brackets and screws (unlike the Maxxair).

I agree with OntMont, get the dealer to add them at purchase time. I did on our latest purchase & at no additional cost.

By removing the screen you may be able to get to the screws from inside and then just lift them up from the roof. For myself, I would just buy new ones or as previously mentioned get the Dealer to throw them in the deal.

 I just bought new Smoked covers from Camping World, (internet special-$36) and left the old ones on the 3280 we traded in. they look nice on top, and sure do cut down on the sun beating into the bedroom.  Besides, it gave me an excuse to get up on top to see how the roof looks...Nary a wrinkle anywhere!!! Great job by Keystone!!!

I removed them from our tradein and installed them on the new rig. It wasn't a big deal but if I could talk the dealer into installing new ones (or even removing from the old and installing on the new) at no charge to me then that's the way I'd go.

On my former TT, you could remove the screen from the inside by removing 2 screws and dropping it. Not so with our 2000 Montana - you have to drop the entire molding - I know because I just did 2 for cleaning purposes. I won't do the one with the MaxxAir fan - I'll be getting out the air compressor !!

Can someone confirm that the drill is required for installation. Planning on installation this weekend and will have to find a 3/16" bit. Thanks as always for the assistance.

I used self tapping hex metal screws wih hex driveer in my cordless drill and installed mine, that way.

Yes, a drill is required to drill four holds into the metal sides of the vent, on the roof.
