When we had a cat we let her ride in the 5er never had a problem at she would just get get under the bed covers and sleep.

We fold the back seats down and use one of those folding cloth and net outdoor playpens in our Mega Cab. They have food and water, beds and a cat pan and if we overnight at a Wallmart or such they can stay there. We have three American Shorthairs, 25# down to the new baby only 3#.

Ours rode in the fifth wheel also. She loved to wedge herself between the pillows on the bed and sleep.

Ours ride in the back seat area of the TV in a cage with food, water, bed, & litter pan. There are just too many places than can squeeze into with the slides in and they don't go into the RV until all the slides are out.

Our cat generally rides in the truck, her harness tied to a leash in the back seat. When we stop for lunch, sometimes she prefers to stay in the trailer.

I put her water dish inside a low casserole dish on the floor so if it spills, the water does not get on the floor. She gets fed only when we are in the trailer.

We keep the covered litter box in the bedroom closet and leave the closet doors open all the time, even in transit.

Years back we traveled with two large cats. They spent their travel time on the bed, snoozing away. With two young kids and at that time only a Super Cab F350, there just wasn't room for the cats. Today, we have a couple pups but they have the entire back seat of the CC tow vehicle and on a hammock device from Amazon - this one, KORN'S

We also have a hammock in our truck. It cuts down where the hair and dirty paw prints go. Keeps them from find the floor accidentally. We throw in a bed since the hammock is slippery

I am a recently retired small animal veterinarian (42 years). PLEASE do not put any pet in the RV. As many other posters have stated, the RV is a lot rougher and noisier than any TV. We always travel with our one cat and one dog-they are much happier (and safer) in their crates until we set up at the campground. Many things can happen in the trailer while traveling-all bad IMHO.

2X. I have never ridden in my 5th wheel TT, but my wife and cat decided to try way, way back. After about 20 miles out she called me and said "get me out of here!" She and the cat were scared to death with all the noise. She said never again.

We taught our lab to drive before our last Alaska trip. She let us get a couple of hundred more miles a day.

Here's a couple of bad pictures of how ours ride in the truck. Beds, food, water and cat box all in their own pen.

cats in RV

We biught a used RV and weren’t told the previous owners had cats in the RV. After numerous asthma attacks we had to clean the rv and throw out the fabrics , only then was I able to sleep in the RV comfortably. Moral of this story: if u bring your pets , please let new owners know when you sell the RV.
Thanks, it could save someones life!

I would die within minutes in a RV with cats. I am so allergic to them.

Not a good idea

We used to have our cat ride in the 5er as we had two labs in the back seat of the TV. Didn't think too much of it until it hit 100 degrees on one trip. Got him from the trailer and put him in a small kennel up front with us. Another consideration, many threads here have described riding in a moving 5er as comparable to a 6.0 earthquake.

Just my 2 cents and no offense intended to anyone, but our dogs are four legged family members as far as we are concerned. One of our primary reasons we got into Rvs in the first place was we wanted to take them with us so they could participate in family vacations etc.. Many Condos and beach houses/cabins etc are not pet friendly.

I would have never allowed or asked my kids to ride back in the trailer and I would never do it with my four legged family either. They ride in the truck with us in safety harnesses just like we wear seat belts.. Safe travels to everyone !
