Remote Control for Montana 3582RL

We purchased a new Montana 3582RL and are dealer said that Montana discontinued remote controls in 2013. I just read a forum that somebody mentioned they had a remote control on a High Country. Does anybody know if Montana really discontinued the remote control on Montana?

Jimmer, we just took delivery of a new 2014 High Country and it came with a remote control. The day we picked it up, the dealer was on the phone with Montana trying to figure out how to get it programmed. I have not used it yet, so I can't speak to how it works, but yes we have one.

Jimmer,

When we get our new 2015 3610RL it will be without the remote control. Dealer said Montana was having to many troubles with it. we have it on our present coach and have not had any issues other than changing the battery. We love it but I guess all good things come to an end every once in a while.

Safe travels,

Les

yea do not bother with the remote ,cool idea but not good in practice ,I used mine once for the awning and to open the slides ONCE,some people have had it in a drawer and had it activate by mistake, I took my battery out of mine and threw it in the Junk drawer

To each his own ... I use my remote alot especially hooking up. I just back the truck up to the hitch and adjust it up or down as needed. It also comes in handy deploying the rear stabilizers if you use wood pads and extending the slides if you are in tight places (I always check inside before running them out). The only issue I had with it was finding the secret screw when changing the battery. I reckon more people had issue with it than not so Keystone dropped that gadget.

I use it each and every time. The 3750 slides can't be seen clearly from inside trailer. We had the bedroom closet slide "hang up" and did $10k worth of damage. Since then, I stand behind Montana and watch all slides carefully! When first reported damage to Keystone, they tried to tell me it was my fault, for not "watching the slides deploy"!

Another, use it all the time, really handy during hookup and setup, don't leave home without it.

I asked about mine before I went and picked up my trailer and it was there for the demo/walk through. Mine does not work my jacks which is agrivating. I use mine to stand outside and watch the slideouts.

Sorry for those who don't like them, but I use ours MUCH more than the switches. Left the remote on the bumper of our truck once and felt naked until I got another! Everything's so much easier to be able to punch a button from anywhere near the Monty and have things move or whatever.

Thanks for all of the replies. It sounds like Montana has discontinued the remote control and you can still get it in the High Country. It is such a handy item.

If you have a remote or the capability to use one, there are instructions on the receiver located in the battery, hydraulic pump Ser area. There are several types of remote. Both of our units have had the convenience and we use it regularly. Our 2010 had push buttons. Our 2014 Big Sky has a touch screen like a cell phone. Although we have Levelup, it is very helpful adjusting pin height when hooking. There are some out there that do not have the capability. If you have the receiver, you should have the remote.

We had one with our 2008 and never used it. The DW controls the slides and watches them from the inside while I watch them from the outside. We didn't get a remote with the new Monte which was fine by us.

We picked up our 2014 Big Sky in (I forget now) March and it does have the remote. I use it all the time hooking up as I haven't quite got the feel for the height yet. So far works pretty good. I've had a few issues with it responding quickly, or staying on a touch longer than I wanted, but overall, good device. I keep it in the truck primarily for hooking up. We did use it to open the bedroom slide on our very first trip and crunched a cupboard door, so now we always check first, then use it outside to make sure we're all clear.

Agree with all on using the remote. Could not figure why mine on my 2011 324RLQ was erratic. Changed the battery and all is good.

Left the original on the truck's back bumper last year and I was seriously lost until I was able to get another one! Makes hooking up, leveling, and just about everything super easy. Only negative isn't with the remote, but with the weak frame on the electric awning - I'm afraid to have it out in even a breeze. When that thing goes, I'm going to seriously consider a manual replacement.

We got our 3750 over a year ago, and use the remote every time we set up or get ready to pull. It's handy if sitting out a breeze springs up to be able to stow the awning from my rocking chair

Smile Updated remote control information

I see it's been years since this thread has been active but for those interested in using a remote to control functions and devices on your rig it can be a time and labor saving help. My Lippert remote control receiver blew the circuit providing +12vdc to the manual switches on my 2010 3455SA. I replaced it with the LC305117 Replacement 5-function remote receiver with replaceable fuses. This unit uses the LC358601 touchscreen remote to program and control the board. Etrailer has a good price on both and instructions to program the functions including landing gear, stabilizer, slides, awnings, lights etc. The control also allows you to assign 1 of 4 fuses per function. For instance the landing gear uses fuse 1 a 30 amp fuse and also the main slide uses fuse 1. The stabilizer uses fuse 2 a 20 amp fuse. This flexibiilty allows you to properly fuse the particular device you've assigned to a function. The remote allows you to assign a unique PIN to unlock the remote however in order to program the fuses you must acquire another unique PIN which you will discover is not readily available. I did find a reference though which refers to a Lippert page on which one can find the PIN (https://www.lci1.com/history) It is definitely there and will take you a little head scratching to figure it out but be patient and I guarantee you will get it.The only reason I won't divulge is the same reason the person who referred to the site, possible liability. Should you assign a fuse of higher than necessary value to a function it's possible you could damage something and don't expect to blame someone else. The advantage of having these replaceable fuses is you should not have to spend hundreds of dollars to replace an entire assembly. File this away or if you're considering adding remote capability to your rig then check out etrailer for pricing and availability. Good luck!

2nd owner, remote?

We purchased a 2013 montana 3582rl 5th wheel. Previous owner didnt mention a remote. How do we know or find the receiver to confirm it originally had a remote originally?
