Any problems closing storm door because of door light switch jamming on a 2013 3900fb?

I did at first but a little WD40 and hasn't been an issue since.

I had a switch that did the same thing - it was the switch for the light at the front under the overhang of the fiver. Mine was so bad WD40 didn't work. Any switch on the exterior gets subjected to elements and is then prone to failure. After I replaced the switch, I looked at the bad one and it was severely corroded. Come to think of it, switches and breakers in the interior have failed as well. For the front switch, besides replacing the switch, I sealed the top of the fixture and the weep hole since I noticed that the fixture could also be mounted upside down and weep holes were on the top AND bottom. Then the lens would be installed accordingly. No problems since.

If WD40 doesn't work, then you might want to check the position of the switch (I don't have one so I don't know if you can) to see if there is a positioning problem and this is causing binding. I don't know what kind of exposure to the elements it could have but you might wanna check on this, too. Let's hope CATCRAW has your solution.

On a new rig lubricating it should solve the problem. If you look under the search function you'll see it's a common problem. I use a silicone spray on mine, WD 40 tends to collect dirt over time.

I used a bar of ivory soap, works well

I took mine out and flipped it over, and used WD also, works fine now.

Bought a small tube of white lithuim grease and put a dab the size of a pencil eraser on the spot the switch rubs on the screen door. Works like a charm. Put the grease tube in a zip lock bag and saved for future use.

I tried all the above and then I broke it. So, I bought a new one. Works fine now.

We found you had to really "shut " the door kinda hard. Our switch has been replace (3) times under warranty .

My 3100RL is the same problem. So far I've tried silicone, rotating it in the socket (not flipping the switch yet), and some light grease, but it hasn't worked very well. Next I plan to use a small file and deburr the inside edge and hope that helps. I also tried a small rubber bumper on the screen to push it in earlier, and that helped until it fell off. Back to the drawing board...

Dang,,, I wish I had a switch.... Hate coming home to a dark rig and the control panel being inside by the stairs,,, Woulda thought one of them really smart Harvard engineers woulda thought when they designed them back then that they really shoulda put a light switch right inside the door????? Just common sense....

A small dab of white lithium grease on the button fixed mine.

I use a dry spray lube for the same reason as Dick.

WD40 is not a lubricant and will collect dirt.

I had the same problem on my FB3900. It wasn't that the button would not depress - it was because the screen door hinge didn't line up properly to the button. The hinge would sometimes slip to the outside of the button and make a snapping noise when you tried to close the door. I added a piece of 1/4" plywood to the door hinge until I was able to get it to the dealer. I told the dealer that the hinge and button don't line up. They removed the button and moved it outboard about 1/2". The mounting plate covers the partial old hole. Now I'm good.

Yup! Ours was improperly drilled and the mounting hole in the door frame is incorrectly aligned. Has been that way since the RV was delivered new. I've engineered and lubed it to make it easier to close but the permanent fix with a true micro switch is a future project.
