Dewinterizing

Well it was a nice day so I flushed out the lines today to get ready for the Easter weekend. Now if we get some more nice weather I could wash the outside. Now we can't wait to get going.

Because of work, it will be 3 more weeks before I can get mine out and dewinterize, but I am sure looking forward to it. Last Thursday it snowed. Today it is supposed to be mid 80 degrees. Maybe spring is here at last.

Dewinterizing season officially arrives next FRIDAY and we can't wait. The first voyage of the year (even if this one is only 40 minutes away from the house) always seems to cause the most prolonged restless nights!!!

Ah the dewinterization season has begun. Nothing like watching that pink stuff run out of the lines in anticipation of heading out on the first trip of the season. YIPPIE!

Around here the snow is melting fast...water and slop everywhere. The snow should be near gone in a couple weeks and then a few more to start firming up. Our local campgrounds typically don't open until the end of April. Even if it's warm enough, the ground is so soft it gets torn up.

I'm getting anxious to go out and do my spring mods...

Well I am heading for Florida April 18th but I probably won't drain the pink stuff to that weekend before we leave. Never know around here this time of year. 65 one day 15 the next. But I am getting anxious for sure. I went in it yesterday for the first time since putting it away last November and guess what - no formilihyde smell like we had last year. Things are looking up, got to install that additional in line breaker for the Slides that MIMF recommended as my slide cuts out when putting them in our out. Looks like a simple job also got new anode rod for water heater - other than that - lets load er up and go camping.

As for the pink stuff, do I just pump clean water thru until all the pink is gone? Also the filter, leave that out until the system is clean?

By Golly Jim, I think you got it down pat. Don't make it too complicated. I do open my lower drain valves and drain some of that out of the lines, run some water till the pink tint is gone. Don't forget your hotwater heater bypass - leave it in bypass till pink stuff gone then flip it on and fill the hotwater tank. You might even consider a couple of spoon fulls of bleach into your fresh water tank after it has been sitting empty all winter. Never know what might have took up residence in there while you wasn't looking.

I went thru mine yesterday to check the connections behind the main water connection board for loose connections, found quite few. This will be the first season with this rig and I will be leaving April 23rd for 10 days in Florida

Dewinterizing???
Pink Stuff???
snow?? is melting fast
Last Thursday it snowed???

I've been full timing in our Monty for 4 1/2 years and thought I knew all the RVers words/terms but those words are unfamiliar to me. Is this something I should be doing before heading north in May??? Could someone please explain???

Patiently waiting for your advise here in Sunny Florida.

Glen, Let me assist you in defining all of those words and phrases. It all has to do with that horrible word "freeze" Brrrrr.
I'll stay in Florida thank you.
