I installed 2 micro air EZ starts on my 2 Dometic AC units. The first one took a little longer. Maybe 30 minutes to install, following the directions exactly. It was a bit scary, but I did it. It then need to be started 5 times for the learning process. I was able to do this from my smartphone up on the roof using the free app. I think the 5 starts and then waiting for the restart, actually takes longer than the install. I did monitor the amp draw on my EMS protector during the AC test run on shore power. If the digital readout is accurate, I needed 14 amps to start 1 AC unit. Then It backed down once it stabilized. Good luck. It's not as bad as I thought to install it. Print out the directions, and follow them closely. I just bought my Honda 2200I Generator this week. I'll be testing it soon.

Well, both Soft Starts installed, roof scrubbed, (it was terrible after the wildfires here in Oregon last fall)
They work as described. I ran them on a 20A circuit on a 14g cord one at a time just to check the installation.
Should be a snap on 30A.
Thanks for all the input!

I just hooked up my new EU2200I Honda generator for the first time. I needed a ‘Generator bonding plug’ to make my EMS function properly. That was easy to make one. I do have both AC units wired up with the Micro Air EZ start units. First I started the generator without shutting off any breakers in the main electrical panel. I fired up the main Dometic AC unit and it started right up as usual. I ran outside to check the digital display on my EMS power supply. It was running at 17 amps without issue. I ran for ten minutes. Then I went inside and **** off all unnecessary breakers in the main panel. Once I did this the load dropped to 14 amps and 125 volts. I had no major appliances powered at that point. I did still have the wall outlets powered and the tv’s. I shut off the main AC unit and then started the bedroom unit. I had exactly the same number. 14 amps max. Even on startup. I think I could run 1 unit if it wasn’t a extremely hot day. Today it’s 76 here. I’d most likely power the coach with it, and use the fan to cool off. Then I could run my residential refrigerator too this way. It worked great and gives me new options for that unexpected detour when traveling. I attached a couple of pictures showing the power load.

I should be good with my Honda 3000i then. Or a full 30A hookup.

A device installed in an air conditioner to reduce the start up current (that is high) to allow starting and running a single 15k AC on a 2000W generator.

Do the Soft Starts reduce the noise levels inside the coach? I would think the start up noise would be reduced but don't know about the actual running noise levels.

Mine weren't noisy before, except for the low profile one while on direct dump. But they seem quieter on startup.

The device reduces the startup current. That might mean reduced motor noise during that brief period, but it has no effect on what is called 'running' amps so no effect on noise. I usually have to ask my wife if it is on since even with hearing aids I don't hear it especially when the TV is in my ears.
