Sleep number change over question

We have finally got our king radius sleep number bed coming been back ordered for what seems like forever. I just took out the old mattress and looking at my base it measures 67 inches wide. The sleep number bed is 72 inches wide. So to those of you that have made this switch did you have to cut a new piece of plywood to 72 inches wide or did the new mattress go right in with out problems? I took out a king size also so I'm not changing mattress size. Thanks for your help happy camping.

No, we didn't do anything, out with one mattress, in with the other, no problems. We love our sleep number bed, have one at the house too.

Enjoy a good night sleep...

I have one in the house also but I wasn't home during the install I don't know how much support they have out on the edges and end of bed. Thanks so much for getting back to me. Happy camping

Edges are just foam that is about two plus inches, if I remember. I did do new ply as the stuff that was there was a real joke for size, quality, durability. John

We didn't change anything, just changed out the mattresses and the new sleep number king bed works fine.

You will have to make sure the platform extends to the edge of the mattress so that the foam surround and the corners are supported. Sounds like your platform is for a Queen size bed. The replacement is simple, cut to size and install with the existing hinges. Mark the strut locations so they work correctly. That is one thing that is nice about the Sleep Number, makes the under-bed storage a lot easier to access since the bed weight is drastically reduced.
