Glad you made trip safe and sound. Thanks for the great conversation Phil and Cathy. Have a great July 4th. My sister mentioned an oly time Trap/Shoot re-Inactment event going on up there this w/e at the state park. If you are looking for something to do. Teresa

Phil,
We are headed that way in a few weeks and plan on staying at Hiouchi around mid August. Sounds like a great place. I will keep in touch with you when we get going west.

Phil,
We stayed in Klamath, just below Crescent City. We found the park in Klamath just a little more appealing and out of the hub-bub. Ha! When we left we took 199 from Crescent City to Grants Pass, then I-5 North. I called it an exciting ride, Earlene called it frighteningly scary. Hey! What does she know. Just because the drop-offs were on her side.
If you want just a few days of relaxation with a fully fenced in dog park on premise (big one) try Armitage County Park, in Eugene, OR (Coburg). You can run up the highway a mile and visit Marathon Coach, but leave your wallet behind. Armitage has very spacious sites with FHU and only $25 a night.
Edited:
By the way, Whidbey Island NAS is fantastic for the view. No sewer, but who cares. Reservations a must during most time. If you do decide, once you register do not stop at the Convergence Zone. Go straight to the park and the host will tell you to "pick a site." Hopefully there will be many available depending on what time of day you get there. The reservations are just to have a spot, but the spots are first come first park.
