Darco repair Question?

I am trying to fix a torn area in my Darco on my dining room slide. I am thinking of putting UMHW strips so they will protect the Darco. I have the flush floor slides for my kitchen and dining room slides so my slides drop down when fully extended. Can the UMHW be beveled and placed so the strips go up onto the wear bar? If you place the UMHW strips on top of the wear bar the slide will not drop down to create the flush floor. Thinking of 4 or 5 6" wide strips. Countersunk with stainless screws. Is this correct, or am I missing something?

Be careful installing anything on the bottom of the slides as this will lift the slide higher against the flap seals at the top of the slides which could damage those flap seals. I don't have a solution other than investigating installing rollers that might assist in the slide operation.

Well I checked the clearance on the slide seal and there seems to be about an inch. I don't think that if I use 3/16" thick strips it will not affect the seals.
I have to do something as the darco is rubbing on the heater vents as the slide closes and tears the fabric. Bad design! If vent would have been rotated 90 deg. there would be no problem. I believe they changed the location in 2018. Keystone has been NO help.
