What We Learned on Tour
While at the rally, we once again toured the Montana plant. A couple of quick notes. First, they still only run one shift. They are making the same number of Montana’s today as back in 2015. They actually had a three unit gap because they were short Luan on Monday. Second, we all complain about sawdust. They actually inspect to make sure things are clean, but it shakes down over the road (I can attest as we know our cabinet is clean and still have sawdust on our stove). Third, and one I found very interesting. They put telemetry on some of the Montana’s. They found damage on a unit shipped to Canada. The telemetry showed the transporter hit 95 mph towing the unit. Four, instead of running a mix of models down the line, they will run batches of the same model. All of the ones on the line during our tour were the same. Another interesting note. They are using large nylon strapping along with steel bracing to keep tanks secured. I am sure others picked up on useful points, but these were interesting to me.

Thanks Ron! Sounds like they are continuing to make improvements.

We did not see any quality inspectors, looking at the the condition of the warehouse overall I saw organized caous!! It disappoints me when you see pieces and parts all over the floor. If they don't care about the working conditions they don't care about sawdust. I asked about using screws on the roof rather than staples on the aluminum edges under the rubber roof. Speed was the answer and not a secure fastener. My observations my opinions pretty amazng to see the operation.

One thing I did NOT like.
I saw one of the rigs before they installed the wall.
The shower had the hot and cold plumbing running up to the faucets along the outside wall.
Granted the walls have 2" thick styrofoam insulation, this is a no no in any house building designs.
If you are full time and it gets cold like last winter record breaking cold (even down in Texas) those pipes could freeze.
I Recommend moving those pipes to an interior wall.

I was very impressed on the tour. Our tour person had an answer for every single question that he was asked. I left wanting a 2022 with 3 of the new air Conditioning units that have no whisper quiet ducting, the new entertainment system and area, furniture, standard TST, standard door defender, clear shower doors etc.
I like the Montana more than ever. We were told that the reason the High Country does not get Sailuns is because they can’t get enough of them.

We enjoyed the factory tour as well. I agree with the desire to have a new ‘22 Montana! We will just have to see. I would also consider the MoRyde independent suspension if it were my last Montana.
