Wires hanging low?

When the slides are retracted, ready for the road, we have wires hanging down at the rear of the living room slide of our 3295RK. They are about a foot off the ground. Someday I'm going to snag them on something. Isn't the 3295 supposed to have some kind of spring to hold these wires up out of the way?

Can someone tell me how their 3295 is set up in this respect? Any idea how long the spring and where it connects to? I could probably find a spring at one store or another or my Montana dealer if this is what it's supposed to have.

Thanks.

It will have to be a relatively weak spring that is very long since it will have to retract about 2' since the slide extends about 4'. It has to be strong enough to pull the wires up yet weak enough not to yank the ends out of the connections. I would try a bungee cord first.

Hello Steve and Vicki,
i realize mine isnt the same model but i dont think there is a difference. the spring is about 18" long un-streched. with the slide in you can hook one end of the spring to the middle point of the hanging cable. hook the other end to something about the length of the spring away at a right angle to the cable. mine is hooked forward of the cable just behind the leaf spring. dont stretch the spring too much when looking for a spot. when the slide is put out it will stretch the spring quite a bit.
hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you. I think I'll take another look under to see how long a spring I need then buy one and make sure it does the job properly. It's storming outside right now so I'm staying inside.

Thanks.

Steve

Not sure I am on the same wave length as you, but there is a special little piece under the slides that holds up the wires.

When we were at the plant tour a few weeks ago, Mark showed us one, he said that they had designed it, may have had a patent on it at one time, but thought other units now had the same thing. It was black, a piece of plastic, it was flat, it had some holes it in to put the wires through and the plastic bends when you close up the slides.

Maybe you could run over to that dealer of yours (by the way, NICE PEOPLE THERE!) and ask to look under a newer unit and about this piece. Maybe you had one, and lost it?? With all the road miles you had, that would certainly be understandable.

I would think you could order a replacement part???

I'll be back to edit this if Al finds anything wrong with my response when he reads it.

I think I'll do that, Carol. That part may be something that came out after our '03 model was produced. Mark gave our tour, also, but I don't recall him showing us that piece. But maybe it could be retrofitted. If not, I'll find a spring. The kitchen slide has a spring but the LR slide doesn't.

Thanks all.
