3455 ceiling lights

Evening folks. I've got a 2010 3455 and I'm wondering if there is a way to keep the kitchen lights from coming on when you open the entrance door. The plunger on the entrance door is functioning properly but I don't always want the lights to turn on. The switch on the panel will turn the lights on when the entrance door is closed but I can't turn them off when open, any ideas?

Pull the back plate holding the plunger in the door frame, pull it out, disconnect the power and reinstall, or don't reinstall the plunger. If you want the ability to operate or not operate, I guess a wall mount on/off switch is an option if you can access the wiring run in the wall. Maybe a piece of gorilla tape would suffice.

Mike's explaination is the only one I've ever seen done. If you disconnected the plunger you wouldn't have to remove it, put that plunger always got sticky for us and would make the door not close properly.

I have a 2011 3455sa and have been wanting to make those lights stay off at times myself. I can turn mine off at the ceiling on the fixture. But that is a pita. I think what I will do is intercept the wire going to the switch and mount a new switch just inside on the wall right behind the door switch. Its on my to do list.

Just completed the install of the new switch inside on the wall directly behind the door switch. Works great. Now all I have to do is turn the new switch off and the lights will stay off when the door is opened. Took 1/2 hour and $4 for a small switch.

Keystone should have done this from the factory since the lights are not needed in the day time, running down your batteries while boon docking.
