Norcold Model 2118 4 door referigerator question
We have the 4 door stainless steel looking RV Norcold Model 2118 in our 2015. Sometimes going down the road, not always, the RIGHT refrigerator has popped open? I have noticed that the locking pin that goes up and down is not the strongest on the right side door. Has anyone experienced this with this unit? I called Norcold and talked to a "customer service rep" who was about as helpful as a bag of rocks. Her suggestion was don't put any weigh in the righ hand refrigerator door, well thanks a lot lady.

Must be married to the guy that told me the reason that my brakes wore out on the drivers side of my NEW CAR was that I drove it alone most of the time. I guess that you have to put a counterweight on the passenger side when driving by yourself LOL

If you have a good dealer, as their best service tech. It could be the door isn't aligned properly.

Each frig door has a small pin in the handle that depresses when you grasp the handle to open and is supposed to pop back up when you close the door to keep it latched. Sometimes the pin will stick down and not pop back up. Take the door handle latch apart and lube the pin, spring, and internal latch parts with dry silicon lube. That solved the problem for us.

Dave, do you just remove the two screws on the handle and lift out the mechanism?

Hi Bob,
In answer to your question, yes if I remember correctly.
Remove the two screws in the top of the handle assembly. Then, lift off the cover plate and that exposes the pin assembly which is a plate with the pin molded in it. There is a spring in a hole under the pin assembly, be careful when removing the pin so the spring does not get away. Then clean all parts and the cavity it al l sits in. Lube all parts with a silicon dry lube and re-install. Once assembled, each door should make a very distinctive "CLICK" when they are shut if the pin is latching. If your right hand door sounds different than the left hand door when closing, I would guess the problem is the pin on the right hand door.
Its very unlikely the spring is weak, I don't think replacing it would help anything.
I hope this makes sense, and it solves the problem.
Dave
