Planning way ahead for the Keys - info?

DW and I have decided to get a little adventuresome for July of 2018 and are looking at a trek to the Florida Keys for a 7 - 10 day stay. Looking at Boyd's Key West Campground as well as Bluewater Key. Any experiences and recommendations are appreciated regarding these parks or others (full hook ups are mandatory!). We fully understand that it is expensive and will be very hot, but DW thrives on heat and humidity. As always, I will have my ever trusty high powered fan and lots of cold drinks, so I will manage.

Bingo on your way south to keys you should try Whisper Creek campground, Labelle fl. We are app. 40 miles east of Fort Myers, It is a 55+ park, very friendly, lots of activity,
1 mile from small town. we been in Florida since Dec. and this park has been the best. We liked it enough to reserve a lot for next year for a couple of months. Prices are reasonable for this time of year. Dutch from Ohio

It will be hot for sure, but unless you are planning on jogging during the afternoon most folks in good health can handle the summers down here. Visiting the Keys in the summer is fun because there generally are no crowds.

We stayed at Blue Water Resort a few years back. Quite nice, but it is actually private owners of each site. Someone on site takes care of checkin for the owners. I believe it is gated too. You are quite a ways from town - several miles. They have little cabanas at each site with some shade and I think, a nice bbq setup with table and shade. I think if I were to stay again, I would look at Boyds, perhaps. Check the reviews at 'campgroundreviews.com'
