Tight turn wheels picture

This is a picture of a tight turn with the wheels cocked under pressure, all of us do it but usually don't see the wheels.
I try to 'unload' the tires when I turn, backing up and then turning again. I did this for the picture.
Monday, Sue and I have to jack up the trailer and pull two wheels, take them to the tire shop and get the new ones changed, then the other side of the trailer. There is a strip joint across the street, I think I will let her pull the wheels while I have a couple of cold ones...

Could that be the issue, outside of one and the inside of the other? I will be traveling next weekend and I will check my tires while I am turning/backing. I have all three X Factor on my unit. I want to check and see if my axles and wheels "cant" as you have in the photos. I will let you know

All tandem axle trailers look this way when in tight turns. In essence there are two separate pivot points when a turn with more than one axle is made. If you go to the Lippert website, there is a video of tandem axle trailers turning with tracking lines superimposed on the tires.

Ever watch a triple axle make a turn? Makes you want to look away.

I remember the first time I was backing sharply on dry pavement and saw that look in my rear view mirror. Thought I had broken something. Was very happy to find out it was normal.

I avoid jacking my trailer around at all cost. When I had a short bed I refused to use the slide on the hitch. So in 2 years with that truck I never once had to operate the slide. But even now with the long bed I am very conscious of not turning too tight. I still think that is one of the reasons we have so many tires separate and treads come off.

You won't be able to see anything at the strip joint through 2 black and swollen eyes!

You should see it with independent suspension.

You should see the gas tanker turning into my lot to dump. More movement sideways than forward!

You can reduce the torque quite a bit by doing what Ozz does, alternating backing up and going forward for a short distance while making very tight turns.

He'll just have to ask for the Braille version then.

That's how I got my "2 black and swollen eyes!", the last time I went to a strip joint.

The first time I saw my axles look like that I just about shat on myself till I realized I hadn't ruined everthing.

X2. I couldn't believe tires would take such stress.
