Hot water heater element
I have changed my hot water element a while back and it performed perfect heating the water. The other day i could hear the element heating the water, almost like a sizzling/boiling sound. I had never heard this ever always quiet. Does anyone have an opinion on what could be happening. It does shut off when up to temp.

Sounds like build up from the minerals in the water. Is your anode rod still good?

I've heard that also. It never seems to be a problem tho. I've replaced the elements in the past when they burned out (my fault), but this is the same one that came with the Monty, and works fine. I wouldn't worry about it. Like Dick said, you might want to check the anode rod. They wear away to nothing if not watched.

If you can service it, I would pull the element while it is still new, and clean out the heater. That junk in there can migrate downstream and clog all sorts of screens and valves when broken up. I got all kinds of crud out of mine when I changed the element.

Dave, it is residue of water temperature and pressure change, calcium and that type of minerals, they form on the element and build up, scale off and lift when heated

My HW Heater does that too. I know all parts are new and working, I have flushed my tank several times and looked inside and that looked good, I do have hot water though, I do need a new relief valve though. thats next. I dont worry about it any more I always have propane if the eleiment stops working.

Most of the time the hot water heater in a stick house is located where you can't hear it, but if you could, you would.
