WA 167 NB Renton- 0.6 miles north of I-405, milepost 26.90 13'8" 13'9"

Now, I know Renton, and I know that SR 167 dead ends at the intersection of I-405, so how do they get a milepost North of I-405?

I'm not sure about your issue with SR 2.

Robbie, I think they are talking about the “Railroad Bridge” just before “McLendons”… that they just took down this summer.

State Route 167, commonly known as the Valley Freeway, connects Interstate 5 in Tacoma with Interstate 405 in Renton.
SR 167 runs east as a four-lane divided (only by a left-turn lane) highway from Interstate 5 in Tacoma along the Puyallup River into Puyallup, then after three traffic lights becomes a freeway and turns north. North of Auburn, the freeway has high-occupancy vehicle lanes. There is a project underway to convert these HOV lanes to high-occupancy toll lanes.[2] SR 167 ends just north of Interstate 405, at State Route 900 in Renton.[3] Prior to 1992, the route followed Rainier Avenue S. north to Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. in Seattle. An overloaded interchange with I-405 results in routine backups on I-405 as far as Tukwila to the west and the Kennydale Hill to the north. A flyover ramp completed in 2003 has improved the situation,[4] but a more comprehensive solution is being planned as part of I-405 widening.[5

Thanks for the history lesson. I didn't move to the area until 1993; guess I'm not that crazy. This makes me wonder how often the clearances are rechecked and the web page is updated!

Very Scary stuff! I really think I'm going to have a hard time getting Alice to ride on the top to watch for low clearances.

When I go to the site it shows minimum height as 13'6" with maximum height as 19'6" for

US 2 Skykomish- tunnel 2.7 miles northwest, milepost 45.98

I thought the 6' difference was interesting. At least that is what is on my first line of the chart.

Mike, that sounds like one of those situations where the bridge is on a downgrade and one end is much closer to the road below than the other end. Or it's some kind of trestle bridge.

For those who want low clearance information when they don't have a web connection. the Motor Carriers Atlas is an excellent source of information. Available at larger bookstores (Borders, Barnes and Noble) as well as many truck stops.
