Dometic 1350 down again!

We are done with rv fridges as ours is done for the Third time. We are starting to feel somewhat like Rich with his tank failures but in our case it's these da*** 4 door Dometic fridges.

After an initial cooling replacement under warranty we then had another complete fridge replacement under extended warranty. Both times it was attributed to improper cooling and steps were taken that improved air flow. Well on our last trip we awoke to 45 degrees and rising and the dreaded yellow dust from escaped gas all over the outside cavity. Once again an extended warranty claim.

We were not ready to trade but again our dealer stepped up to the plate with a fair deal and ordered a 3721 with a residential fridge.

Time to put this nightmare behind us and move on enjoying the RV lifestyle. Not for a moment do we blame Keystone/Montana or our dealer. This is totally on Dometic.

The agonizing wait is on!!!

We love our residential fridge. Because it does not use propane, we had to rethink trip preparation. The upside is that fridge cools FAST.
Enjoy your new fridge wrapped in your new RV.

If you were;t ready to trade did you at least consider installing a new residential reefer in your current Monty?

Yes we did consider that option right from the get go. Our dealer was willing to do it and told us getting extended warranty to pay as much as replacing the existing fridge wouldn't be a problem.

After getting a closer look at what they had to do we started to ponder what the end result would look like and how much it might devalue our trade down the road in a couple years when we did want to trade.

Biggest problem we felt was that we would have a shinny new residential installed next to the black oven and black microwave/convection.

Our salesman agreed that might cause a problem down the road and in order for them to give us the best dollar for our trade they would want it to be original equipment.

That concerned us enough to have them repair as original and trade. We did shop around and we're surprised when our dealer's offer was $6900. Less than we had found elsewhere.

In the end it's peace of mind to have a great dealer to deal with, we are fortunate.
