newbie needs help

2006 MONTANA 3295RK: When I hook up the hose to fill the fresh water tank the water is turned on but the tank doesn't fill. when I use the quick city fill spot for the hose water leaks inside. the last time I made sure to only till the tank 2/3 and now there is a small line of water on the edge of the wall.. where do I check to make sure everything is tight with the connections? and what else do yall recommend checking?

Not sure what you are asking as my montana is a newer year and different model. I have a center where I connect a hose for city water. If I want to put water in the tank, I turn a valve from normal position to tank fill position OR I use the manual tank fill in the back of the rv and add water there. On my unit, if I want to check connections, I have to remove a wall in the pass thru and remove the plastic bottom to follow all the plumbing runs. What do you mean there is a water line on the wall? Mine is a different model but same year. My fill port is behind the key locked door that also contains the hook-up for city water. Just unscrew the cap and insert the hose to fill the fresh water tank. Attach the hose to the female hose bib to use city water. My black tank flush hose bib is above this door. Are you sure you are not hooking up to the black tank flusher? If you are and haven't drained the tank you may have overflowed your black tank and that is creating the water on the edge of the wall or more probable the back flow preventer on that line could be leaking.(A common occurrence)
