entry door hinges 2016 trailer

just used my trailer for the first time and notice the entry door does not have any latch to keep it open. I seen some you tube videos that talked about friction hinges on the new Montana trailers. I notice the hinges on mine all had a series of hex head screws that looked like they might be for adjusting tension? does anyone know about these? can they be adjusted or do I need to install a latch to hold it open?

I do not think there is an adjustment, and there are forum reports of reverting to the older style t-latches to hold the doors open. The wind will catch them when windspeed reaches 15-20 mph. Been there, done that and the result was the door catching behind the edge of a retracting slide while I was inside and the door actually broke. Not sure if your model has that design flaw, but rest assured, the friction hinges are not the save-all that Montana thinks they are.

Spoke to Keystone customer service today, sounds like this might be a new hinge for the 2016 trailers as they seem to have a hard time finding the answer for me. They said the hex head screws on the hinges are the way to adjust for more friction on the entry door. I'll give it a try later today maybe a quarter turn each to start. I don't usually leave the door open much, but when I do it would be nice for it to stay open. if the friction doesn't work good then I might add a regular latch later. hope this helps new owners as I couldn't find anything in the manuals or online about these new hinges.

Revised post
yikes don't turn too much maybe a 16th of a turn each or less, 4 screws per hinge,7/64 hex. I see why they don't tighten them at the factory or dealer, as they are very noisy/loud, more than just a squeak. I tried a about a quarter turn at first and the door wouldn't budge and had to back the screw out a little. hopefully the squeal goes away with use.

We installed a T latch and quit worrying about it.

I also have the friction hinges and they will not hold in a strong breeze. I ordered a plastic door hold (3.5") and installed. Certainly worth the $4.71 I spent. Now I have the option of hooking it like all the old Montana's did or just prop it open in a no wind situations.

A little wd-40 white lithium grease quieted the squeal. Seems to be working okay now.
