Short 50 Amp Power Supply Cord

I am going to be at a permanent site for some time and only need about a 5 Ft cord rather then dealing with 25ft.
Have any one out their made up or have a short cord made custom??

You can make one up but it isn't going to be cheap. The female connector alone would keep me from making a shorter cord unless I really needed to have one. Just coil the cord under your trailer and spend the money on something fun.

I have considered making one about 12' long but decided that the cost out weighed the benefit to me. I just coil the excess of the 25' standard one.

I do have a short dog bone type that I made so that I could plug my extension directly into my rig should I need to. I did it because I had the opportunity to pick up a female connector for almost nothing. The female connector will cost you close to what the whole cord will cost you, so normally it's not worth it.

If cost is not an issue, the discrete parts are sold to make them. I have seen other rigs with homemade or even storebought short cords. I don't do this because it's another piece of weight to carry and winding the existing cord works just fine.

Just consider an elbow style connector to get the cable down to the ground. That wire is heavy and you shouldn't run it so it's up in the air to the shore power cuz it could cause some undesired stress.

When in Florida for five months, I just coil the excess up in a large bucket

Art, I have looked for an elbow connector. Do you know where to find them?

Here's what I use: http://tweetys.com/right-angle-rv-adapters.aspx It didn't lineup right until Jim rotated the plug in my trailer at last years rally. Now it's great. I'll be using it at the Central Plains rally if you want to see it.

That what I did plus a 15 ft 50amp extension so for a little over a hundred dollars. I have 15 ft cord or a 45 foot if I ever need to use the 15 with my orginal 30 ft cord.

I just coil up the 50amp around the rear stabilizer which will cause the copper thief pass to by and go to easier pickings.
