Hitch recommendation
Ok I am going to get my hitch installed in the next week.
What I am still undecided about is which hitch.
I am considering the Pull Rite Super 5th 20.5k with custom rails or the Husky 21K hitch. Bill at Bill's RV recommends the Husky saying it is heavier and stronger but the reputation of Pull Rite says allot about thier hitch. Both are within $10 of each other installed. I have long bed so do not need slide.
At the same time I am going to have the Ride Rite bags installed and I believe initially they will just be teed. Perhaps later I will install the cab control.
Regarding the power plug for the trailer where do you folks recommend it be placed. In the interior side of the bed about inline whit the hitch, or some other location?
I will also have to have the rear camera plug installed and may do that at the same time. If so then that plug can go along side it most likely.
I imagine any one of them would do well but I am going to have the Morryde Pin Box and would like to get a good combination at the start.

Bob,
Go with what ever hitch makes you feel most comfortable. Remember, they are drilling holes in the bed and frame of your truck...no going back once the holes are drilled. I personally have been very pleased with the Pullrite company and will be going with the 20.5K Super 5th on my next truck. The automatic locking jaw mechanism is one of the primary reasons I will go with another Pullrite hitch. Being I am single, I like the fact that I can see the release handle slide closed during the hook up process from the drivers seat of my truck. Leaves no doubt in my mind I have a good locked connection between the hitch and the kingpin. (just my opinion and experience)

PullRite, PullRite, PullRite.
I've had my PullRite over 4 years and every year, while I am in Goshen for the rally, I have taken my PullRite up to the plant and EVERY year they thoroughly go over it and make any adjustments it may need. This year they completely rebuilt the mechanism to bring it up to the current model specs and they did all this ABSOLUTELY FREE. I have yet to pay a penny for any of this service but you must take it to the plant. Just one more reason to be attending the MOC Fall Rally.

Funny ain't it. My salesman steered me toward the Pullrite because he thought it was the better hitch. He also had Husky. Mine is only the 16K though. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I have a Husky, it is built like and Anvil, I have the two Firestone air bags in it. The ride is very soft for my following friend.
Oh, I would get the heavy duty coiled hook up cord that Tim at RV Cams sells, Dennis, (Mudchief) and I have it, really nice, it is much better than the light duty cable. The cable ends get damaged easily. I like the in the bed hook up for the power cables.

Ditto Montana Sky, Glenn and kerry. Love the positive-lock jaws and the fact that the handle slams closed when hooked up. The only thing I don't like is that I can't lock the handle, but maybe not a big deal as I cannot pull the handle open when the weight of the 5er is on the hitch.

You can lock the handle. place a padlock in the hole the pull handle goes thru. This keeps the handle from being raised to release the hitch lock. There is a catch on the bottom of the pull arm. You can't unlock the hitch without raising the arm before pulling it out to release. You can see it in the Pull Rite parts break down. Kerry

We purchased the 18K SuperGlide hitch for our 3400RL. It's great. The SouthEast rep for Pullrite even contacted me on the installment, etc. Very unusual I thought, but like many herein, Pullrite seem all about customer service and good products. This is not to say the others are not, because my experience is quite limited but initial impression has been positive. Dennis

I also lock my release handle. I bought one of those round locks that are sold at most self storage units, fits perfectly. Cost was around $12 for one.

Everyone covered the hitch and Ozz mentioned his plug preference so I will sortta say Amen. I have my power hook up inside the bed, drivers side, just forward of the tailgate. Very handy when hooking up and out of the way when using the truck for other things (gasp). Bob
