Took a que from the Big Sky...

DW and I saw the Big Sky again at LazyDays, and was looking at the ceiling and saw they changed to wood strips where the panels are joined together. Non-Big Skys have the white wood strips to cover up the joints.

We liked the look of the wood and went to Lowes and picked up 9-8' coffee colored flat trim. Using my finishing nail air gun, I nailed the wood strips right on top of the white ones.

And that is what is known as a Monty mod. It does accent the ceiling and really bring it out. And I see your back to back leather recliners with the blanket in between for their protection. Good job.

At first I wasn't sure how I was going to like it. Like KOLCB says, it gives it a little class. Not bad for less than $25.

Sure Scott you just had to post that mod! Now I'll have to put it on my "to do list" for something else make the Monte just a step above the others!

Looks real nice. Are the strips real wood are MDF that is covered with vinyl wrap? Put on top of the white do you not see a white spacer under the strip. Maybe not noticeable huh?

The strips are MDF with vinyl wrap. They do not cover the entire white strip. I centered it. It might be hard to see in the picture.

I can see it better in that picture. I think it looks a lot better being a little more narrow. I think it would have looked funny if it was same width.

Nice job Scott! Really like how you entered them up on the existing joints. It seems to really set them off!

Thanks everyone! It's real easy to do if you have a finishing nail gun and a utility knife to cut the strips. I used 5/8" nails. After I cut the first piece to size I used the scrap piece to set the nail depth on the gun and off I went.

I would be happy to do this for anybody as long we had a portable air compressor and you buy the strips!
