Vandals made me do it!
My new F450 was damaged by "vandals/ theives" at a gated condo complex we visited this weekend. ( Proving gates and fences, are for honest people )! While my" Rearview Safety " camera was activated and recording for my truck bed, I had no cameras on the front of vehicle. Couple of "camera shots we did obtain", indicate the first intent was stealing out of truck bed. Both voice and actions of vandals, proved they saw the active LEDs on generator box camera. Sadly no faces were distinguishable. In retaliation they decided to toss garbage on my truck hood. Therefore a front camera and an "auto dash cam" get installed Monday! The complex police were as helpful, but it proves no place is secure.

Sorry to hear about your problems, all things considered it could have been a lot worse, however. The worst thing about it all is you can't even feel safe in a gated community. Sad comment on life today.

Your words are so true. This complex is where my Son and his Girlfriend live in Marin County Ca. He believes it's getting worse, and he is too young to be a jaded! Lol. Oh, meanwhile the RV and outside Funiture were safe in the little RV Park 10 min drive away! Good thing is its not the end of world. Truck can be fixed, nobody got hurt, plus I really doubt those guys could lift the Generator, and Box out of truck! Lol

It's a sorry statement on society today. I think main problem is a lot of kids are not help responsible for their actions.

Very sorry to hear about this. I have been looking at dashcams lately myself and this incident adds weight on the side of getting one soon. It may not stop such actions but it may very well help nab the culprits.

I've read some about the backup cameras, but it sounds like you have more than that. I figure if I buy a camera to help backing, I might want to add some extra features for security, for when it's stored and when I'm camping but away from the site.
Ideas?

It's a good thing they didn't try to lift the generator. Now days they would probably hurt their back and sue you.

We invested on a "rearviewsafety" system and DVR. It gives you live back up video / audio and in our case. "Hitch Video"! We are adding front camera Monday. I will post links to my install photos. We recently put in a "Drop Cam" to watch our dogs inside RV while we are away. This camera sends video and motion alerts to your cell phone. We can talk and hear "two way"! The delay is about 4 sec. You must have good WIFI or like us a "Hot Spot"! It works great and gives us peace of mind. It's on 24/7 while stored. You can access video feed via any smart phone. Just need to turn it off at night. Our kids have caught me in my underwear more than once( not a pretty sight ")! Cost about $125.00. Easy set up and portable. Can even use it outside if you have a 110 outlet! Look up Drop Cam on Amazon, I wrote a review. I do know the video stickers on RV had foiled one break in so far. It was caught on storage facility video. The thieves read labels, saw camera and went to next rig.

Stay north Mike. Hopefully Shasta county don't catch up to Marin. Sorry about the trouble.

Just sad really. I bet most of us here were raised to respect people and their property.
As others have said, speaks of our society today.
I have found other peoples property (wallets, cash) and never once thought of keeping it. At work more than once I have taken a $20.00 bill to security.
I am not sure what motivates people.
You are right. Your truck can be repaired.
Still sorry you have to deal with stupid people.

When I was working in San Francisco, there was a crew that went around looking for pick-up trucks with tool boxes. They would pry and pop-off the boxes from the rail, slide them on a flat bed next to it and drive off. They would also, look for slide rear windows, to get inside and cleanout the interiors. While remodeling my house, someone came down my steep driveway and stole my 12" chop-saw, right off the bench I was working on. Talk about a large sets.

There have always been people who steal from others and there always will be.
We have never in our entire life time been the Victim of theft or any other crime and IMO that is the norm. Not to say that we do not take the proper precautions.
