2015 GMs

Rather than confuse things, on the 2014 GM thread, here is a new thread with the 2015 GMs.

That is a great looking interior.
But I really don't understand that kind of promotion for a 2015 this early. Looks like it would put a major dent in 2014 model year sales. Although I do remember reading that Ford will come out with a new design for 2015. Maybe they are just trying to get a jump on them.

Yes, GM is trying to confuse us with this. They are titled 2015, but they are actually going to be available in early 2014.

If the '15s are out, I don't see any reason to get a '14...it's already a year old.

So, out of curiosity, I decided to use the build my truck feature. I was impressed with the options that are available and perhaps got carried away with checking the boxes next to the options. MSRP calculated above $64,000. I told DW, and her response was............something along the likes of...............DREAM ON!, the truck you have is paid for! Oh well, it was still fun!

Bingo that new black Big Sky would sure look nice with a Big Black 2015 Silverado in front of it cruising down the highway though!!
I'll have to admit that I do like the looks of the 2015 and all the goodies on the new interior. To bad I've only got about 23000 on my 2012 now!

Heck Ron, I only have 45,000 miles on the 2007 Classic. I can understand DW's position, and actually have to agree with her on the financial side. But, with all that said, there is something about the draw of a new truck from the male side!!

Well my '12 Ram has a lot of the features the new '15 GMC has. They (GM) are playing catch up.

48k on my '07.5. The high-mileage excuse would never fly. It's always tempting but I want to retire, like a lot of you are, someday.

Well, my 06 has a lot of features your 12 has. I would state if GM is playing catch up with anyone, it's Ford if you are talking strictly about features. As for drive train, there isn't anything out there it needs to catch up to.

An ideal tow vehicle...IMHO...would be a Cummins mated to an Allison.

Guess you guys missed the meeting. Ram got a Allison back in '07 reverse engineered it and now we have a "Allison" called a 68RFE behind a Cummins engine. With a better exhaust brake and down shift braking as needed.

You die hard GM guys just need to give it up and admit that someone else makes a decent transmission.

If that were the case (which it isn't) Ram would have been hit with a patent lawsuit so fast, a Cummins wouldn't have been able to keep up with it. What really happened in 07 was Chrysler was looking to switch transmissions (because theirs kept failing) and was considering using the Allison. However the supply bid was too high and Chrysler opted for a different design. You may wish it was a backwards engineered Allison, but it isn't.

Look at independent testing, not what the factories do, and look at owner reported issuesd on new trucks. GM and the duramax consistently win. Dodge has a Japanese transmission now.

Yep, good time to buy NOS 2013s for sure. When I priced out my Super Duty in late '09, a 2010 optioned like i wanted it, was 56K. I found two 09s within a 200 mile radius that had all the options and one even in the color i wanted. I wrote a check for 45K and went with the NOS 09 (it had 48 miles on it).
The year end discounts, meet or beat the Ford partner pricing plan on NOS.

Any info on why GM is not upping it's 6.6? Probably more aluminum to lighten but not sure why the 2015 remains 6.6?
