Dual purpose

Dianna can't go to sleep when her feet are cold, so she uses a "Bed Buddy". It is a bag of something like sand that she puts in the microwave to heat up then to put in bed to warm her feet. Welllllll, the temperature was in the mid to low twenties and even though I use heat tape on the incoming fresh water hose, I didn't put my cover on the 1 foot of connections, pressure gauge, etc., at the supply faucet. Frozen pipes cut off the flow into the rig.

I had visions of squatting out there in the 25 degree weather holding a hair drier. Then I had an epiphany. Why not microwave the Bed Buddy and lay it on the connection and put the cover over that? So I did. Within 5-8 minutes the water began to dribble and quickly moved to full flow. So now I guess that Bed buddy has an additional handle, Pipe Buddy.

Now that's an ingenious idea, you may be on to something big! Now if we could just embed a heating element and add a little Velcro we may be at the patent pending stage.

It's probably filled with rice.

Mrs. Muddypaws has made several of these in various sizes and that's what she puts in them.

Never thought of using one to defrost pipes tho.

Well, that certainly is a very good solution.

I just tell my wife I don't know how to use her hair drier and send her outside!

Yeah! Right!

Very clever Stiles.

In past winters I wrapped teh pressure regulator and converter to dual outlet (splitter thing) with fiberglass and used a trash can to keep it dry. That worked for me in Nashville winters.
