FANTASTIC FAN Screen Removal - HELP!

The screens on our Fantastic Fans are filthy thanks to all the crap in the air in Bullhead City, AZ. I see a small tab that suggests the screen can be removed by pulling on the tab BUT I can't get the screen to budge ... even with a knife blade used as a pry bar. I don't want to break anything so I'd sure appreciate your help.

The screens are in there snugly, but persistence in pulling straight down will remove them. There should be a spot on the ring where you can get a finger under. Start there until starts down and then keep working around the edge until it drops out.

It is scary the first time. I was absolutely sure I was going to break it.

The tabs seem to be rigid and I don't want to snap any off so I always raise the dome with the fan off and go up on the roof to release the tabs. Good to know they won't break when removing from inside. I don't go up to the roof very often, but I have a look around while there just to check for problems. Last time up I found the boot on the antenna cable had slipped up and rain was on it's way. Moved it back into place and sealed it with silicone caulking.

I find that unless I am going to clean the fan blades, I can get by with vacuuming the screen real good with a brush attachment. If you want to clean the fan blades and have the PopN'Lock screen I use one finger to pull the rim down a little then try to get as many finger tips under the edge and pull, with much cursing at Fantastic Vent I then work my way around and pop each section out. Once I get it loose. I toss it to the DW and say "I got the #$%@ thing out, you can clean it". I go outside grab a beer and wait for her to tell me that it is ready be reinstalled.
