leak from underneath

2014 montana high country 305rl. Slide appears to not retract fully and leaves a 1/2 inch gap full length of slide between slide floor flange and main body floor flange where water blows in when towing in rain.Have you had this problem and what was the fix?

If you are still under warranty I'd call Keystone Customer Service ASAP and get a case started.

Either take it in or have a good mobile RV tech adjust the slide. It's better to have someone who is familiar with making adjustments on these do the work than trying the DIY and messing up so it's even worse. Are you sure there is nothing causing the slide to bind or stop too soon?

Did this gap just appear? If not, this should have been taken care of before your Montana left the factory. If it did, then Keystone will claim it's something caused by your traveling down the road or not taking care of it or some other stuff. Either way, it needs to be fixed - but I'd want to find out the cause.

You might try physically pushing the bottom of the slide in when it is retracted to see if you can close this gap. If you can then it is likely adjustment since the slide pulls in from the bottom. If you look under the slide at the end of the ram you will see it is double nutted on the outer end where it goes through the slide frame, if there is a gap there and the ram is fully retracted it would indicate it is not pulling the slide all the way in, and will need adjustment. If you cannot move it by pushing on it then there may be something binding or stuck in there that is preventing the slide from fully retracting.

There is information on adjusting the slides provided by Lippert, however if the unit is still under warranty I would have a service center adjust it or a mobile tech. You do not say if this has been a problem all along or something that has recently cropped up. The adjustment should not change if it was properly set at the factory, the ram piston threaded end is double nutted and should not change it's position on it's own.

If you end up having to adjust yourself assuming that is the problem, Lippert has step by step instructions. Not hard, have done several times myself over the years. Just mark everything before you start, so you can get back to the original positions, if murphys law kicks in.
