Colo campgrounds - Pueblo SRA
Pueblo is located in south central Colorado, approximately 25 miles to the nearest mountains. Arid climate. Pueblo Reservoir is just west of Pueblo, and when full is the 2nd largest reservoir in the state. The reservoir is used for irrigation, and flood control. The water temp reaches 80 degrees by the end of July. It is a very popular weekend destination during the summer!
There are State Campgrounds on the North and South side of the lake. The South campground, Arkansas Point has about 200 sites, some pull through, all electric, no sewer, but dumpout at the entrance.
The view of the lake and Pikes Peak, 50 miles to the North, is spectacular! Sunday through Thursday this is a very serene and quiet park. During the summer, the weekends are jammed, and the place rocks until 10:00PM. Well patrolled by the park, and they jump on rowdies pretty quickly.
Many pull throughs, large back-ins, and easy for big rigs. Neighbors usually friendly. Public restrooms and showers (fee). All 30 AMP service. Closest shopping is back in town, a 15 minute drive. Lots of excellent Mexican restaurants in town!
