Scare Light Maintenance

While removing the curb side scare light cover to put the new LED bulb in, about a quarter cup of water came out. The cover has a drain at the bottom and the word top at the top of the cover, but my cover had been put on with the drain hole at the 9 and the top indicator at the 3 o-clock position. Driver side cover was mounted properly.

Mine was mounted upside down from the factory which collected water on the inside resulting in a rusted mount. Told the dealer that I wanted a new assembly and would install it myself. No problem, I now have a new lens, gasket and a refurbished mount as spares.

We went with the stainless steel rimmed ones and when we replaced them we also found that ours had been put in incorrectly. Had we not checked we feel that we might have had a de-lamination problem.

Note to self:
Add checking orientation of scare lights to "to do" list.

I had just change the door side light when I read this topic. It made me get the ladder back out, go up and turn the cover 45 degrees.
Thanks

Oh great, another completely unnecessary thing to do on the rig. Sometimes I hate having the rig on the driveway. This makes me run out and check this - now I gotta get the ladder out, put it in position, climb up to check the thing, then if they are wrong, note the type of screw head, then grab the correct screwdriver, climb back up and reposition the thing. Then do this for the other side.

But it could be a lot worse. I could have an RV cover to remove, too!

I wonder how many cold ones I'll need for this. I guess being on a ladder, balancing tools, means I should probably avoid the cold ones. Hook, what do you think?

My original scare lights were getting very rusty so I recently replaced them with the stainless steel light fixtures. Because of this post, I thought I better check to see if I had the drain holes orientated correctly. I had them in the wrong location so removed and reinstalled. The MOC saved me again.
