Graphics
Here we go again, my graphics are peeling again (second time) will try to get a replacement set, or is that replacement replacement set, from Burlington. Question is, the new 2010 Graphics are really attractive, you think those would fit up on our 07 model 3400RL. The sides would but the front cap is a bit different.
Figured that as long as we have to go to all this work we might as well upgrade.

Jim something interesting about the 2010 graphics is that they cut them in one place near the top so they will bend around the curved front cap without wrinkling. It is not all that noticeable to a man riding by on a fast horse. I would bet with some planning one could put the new cap graphics on an 07.

I just finished replacing mine on my 06. I used scotchbrite pads to clean the cap then replaced the graphics then a spray adhesive for graphics then 2 coats of clear. Looks better than ever so far. We will see how they last. I have been told they will not peel with clear coat on them.

Clear coat the graphics with what product?
Can you do that to existing old graphics and will that prevent the peeling?

Don't shoot the messenger, but graphics and clearcoat probably won't expand and contract the same when the sun shines on it. It doesn't work well on cars ... let us know the results in a month or so. Inquiring minds want to know!

Jim, you seem to be a patient man. I'm not sure I would keep putting on graphics from Burlington . I have always said once my graphics go I will have something painted on the front. I have an '06 and I think I have one edge starting to come loose. My graphics guy here in AZ said to just trim it off with a good razor. I think I will do that until the edges are all gone, who knows how long that will take .
BTW: Is Burlington giving any explanation as to why this is happening? Seems many have problems with Burlington Graphics.

Patient, no not really, just want to keep the rig looking good. As to the Burlington graphic problem, not sure it's their problem. I seem to recall that Burlington replaced the previous supplier (might be dreaming that). I replaced a bunch of graphics at the start of the year that were bad, now the rest are going bad, so second trip at graphics. When we get these on we will put the rig up for sale and look for another RV. Going to down size a bit as we will decrease our travels to about 2 months a year from the current 12.

Mine were peeling again on my 07 so I am removing mine. If you are taking them off to replace them yourself I have a suggerstion. There is a product called "Vetrolin Wrap Remover" This can be found at most feed stores. It is to remove the tape they use on horses(I sometimes work at a feed store). I used this stuff and it is AMAZING! I think you can find it at Tractor Supply or Atwood Ranch and Home stores. I hope this helps.

Dieselguy,
I'd like to know what kind of mileage your boat gets when towing your Monty.

We will see in a few months I am hopeing for the best. It took me 8 months to get them so if they peel again I wont put them back on. If you mix the right stuff in the clear you can clear a rubber ball and bounce it and it will not crack. You have to use flex additive and a additive to the clear. also you have to spray a adhesive on the graphics first to make the clear stick to them. like I said if they peel I already talked to a guy about airbrushing the cap. I painted my plastic golf cart 2yrs ago and it is still perfect and it has clear on it JMHO.

I razor blade the graphics first, then wet the glue left over with lacquer thinner. Then hurry up and razor blade the glue before the thinner flashes. Has worked the best of anything I tried. Always make sure you are using a new blade and change often.
BTW I read in Trailer Life today where Burlington supposedly lost their Keystone contract?? Anyone else hard anything about this?

That might be why they are now charging for the replacement graphics. Personally, I would not use a razor blade as I would scratch the gel coat all to heck. I use the lacquer thinner and a rag, and way to much elbow grease.

Using a NEW razor blade is one of the keys. I use it in one of those folding handles for more leverage. Yes, you have to be careful but it works for me. Don't hurry.

I requested a quote for a new set of graphics from Burlington on their website a couple of months ago and never got a response.
It's my understanding if you buy replacement graphics they will be no better than the originals. That means they'll start peeling again in 2 - 3 years. Not sure what the alternative is but I haven't convinced myself I want to replace them until the root cause is corrected. For now I'm just removing each one as it gets really bad and not putting any back on. Maybe put on a set of Jayco or Cardinal graphics would be a good conversation starter??
