Suburban HW heater SW 10DE
Cannot get gas to burner. Replaced gas control valve Pn 161109,(with a working used and new valve) have gas coiming to valve, have 12V power to valve but no gas comes ou when igniter is clicking. Can see spark from igniter. I have disconnected gas tube from bottom of valve and no gas comes out of valve. Any suggestions??

My water heater is doing the same. I have a 3400RL, the tank is under the counter. Inside the cabinet storage area, the wall and floor of the cabinet storage comes out and the tank is right there. There is a control board hanging on the wall. I was able to measure 12v coming into the board, but no voltage on the brown lead that goes to the gas valve. You turn the gas switch on, you should hear the clicking for the ignition and then measure the voltage on the output brown lead from the control board. From my research, this indicates the board is bad. I have a board on order, it should arrive on Monday, 5/21. I can post the results following the installation of the new control board.

I'm getting voltage to the gas valve. When my meter is connected to the brown lead and as the igniter clicks, volt meter is reading 12-13 volts. It would appear valve is bad but as stated I've tried 2 different valves.

Ed, I had the same problem, But! I removed the control board and installed a new one and it fired right up... Hope this helps. Try one before you pay to see if that's your problem...

When you measure the 12v at the valve, can you hear the solenoid/relay click as well as the igniter?

Bob what I get is erractic readings on my volt meter but no clicking from the gas valve. I put direct voltage from the battery and valve clicks from both sides. That's the new one. My old gas valve only clicked on one side. Should I get a constant voltage reading when the igniter clicks? I'm beginning to think I'm not getting enough voltage from the module board. That's another $85 if it isn't the problem.

You are correct, the voltage should be constant. My board is to arrive today. I do not get any voltage from my board. I will post my results when the board arrives and I have it installed.

Received the new control board today. Installed the board and now I have a working water heater on propane. That was the problem!
Purchased the board from American RV Company, online, this was the lowest price I found. Good service, easy ordering and shipping was on time. Part Number for SW10DE, Suburban 520814.

Finally got my hot water heater working on gas. One side of the gas valve was stuck and then the board had quit working also. RV Tech I talked to said valve probably cause the board to quit.
