LP regulator question
I just switched my propane from the bottle on the left side of the 5th wheel to the one on the right side and now the furnace won't light. I checked the stove and the burners light but it looks like very low flow. I removed the bottle from the right side and hooked it to the left side hose and now the furnace lights. Is it possible I have a bad regulator?

I went through the same drill as you and they found my change over regulator bad. It was still under warranty so my ire factor was low. You may continue to troubleshoot by opening the off side bottle very very slowly and see what happens.

Many of us have replaced those little red regulator valves with a higher pressure valve.
Bought mine from marariosrv.com.

Ours is at the dealer right now having some warranty work done and that was one of the things on the list. They told me it was the changeover regulator.

I am having trouble with mine. I found out that I was not getting anything out the hose with it open to the air. You can hear pressure being released when you remove the hose from the tank. Will find out tomorrow if that is the problem.

Could also be an air lock, or the excess flow valve shut down, thinking there was too much gas moving thru, when you first switched over. Mine did it again this weekend on the curb side, we have a red 30 regulator there. Had to shut everything down, disconnect the propane and open all the stove valves to clear the line(twice I did this) and finally reconnect everything and open the propane tank sooooo slowly, it must have taken me two minutes to totally open the valve. I find this happens quite often when switching from the drivers side to the curb side.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm going to try it again making sure I purge all the air and open the bottle slowly.

I had the same symptoms, replaced regulator, the problem was the valves.in the chicom tanks... Replaced the tanks with made in usa worthingtons and all is well... No more touchiness... I now have a spare reg!!!! Btw I traded my tanks for the.price of the valves, $30 each... at a propane outfit... Easier and cheaper than hassling with a dealer for warranty repairs... I hope this helps... Good luck!!!!!

It REALLY helps. I'm going out to try playing with it some more before I go out and buy new parts.

Mine turned out to be the cut-off valve in the tank. Now I have a spare hose. The valves aer VERY touchy. Think I'll run off the door side tank and let it switch to the curbside when needed.

Ok. Update. I replaced the regulator/switchover valve and a couple of hoses. I found 1 hose rubbing on the landing gear jack and was worn half way through. The hoses were pretty brittle also. Everything now works great. I think we're finally ready to go and try using the 5th wheel now.

Glad you got your problem solved! Since you're going to be heading out and trying that unit out, consider coming to Nebraska for the MOC Central Plains Regional Rally in July. You'll be able to meet a few of the MOC members that are on the Forum and enjoy some good Nebraska/Midwest hospitality.
