Campground in Sioux Falls, South Dakota?
We will be heading to Sioux Falls later this month to become residents of South Dakota. For those who have gone this route, am I correct in believing we can use our Alternative Resources mailing address for our drivers licenses? As for registering to vote, I have heard that we need some address other than Alternative Resources--some people have suggested using a campgrounds that will agree to forward the voter registration card to you. Is this correct and, if so, any campground in Sioux Falls that anyone can recommend to use for that purpose?

David, Alternative Resources lists a CG on their website. I believe it is Jellystone. It and a motel are the only ones that you can do the voter registration through as we understand it.
Happy trails.........................

There is another one right in town but I sure didn't like it. Real tight and full of seasonals. We just stayed there one night and then moved. For a longer stay chose the Red Barn or my favcorite one that is Big Sioux Recreation. A beautiful State Park that is at I-90 exit 399. It is actually in Brandon just a hop, skip and a jump from Alternative Resources.
Be sure you stay awhile in Sioux Falls. The Falls themselves are very interesting and we spent a whole day there. There is also a free trolly that you can ride on and get some history.

David and Joanna, we just became South Dakota residents in July. We stayed at the Jellystone Campground and really enjoyed our stay. The folks we talked to at AR recommended Jellystone. You will use your AR address for your driver's licenses, and the Jellystone address for voter registration. We moved from VA (Stafford), too, and you will NOT believe how easy getting your driver's license is. No long lines and only $8.00 for five years!
Just wait until you drive in downtown Sioux Falls during "rush hour"! After all the years of Northern VA traffic, it's a breeze! Enjoy and congrats!

Yes on the address for everything except registering to vote.
We used the "other one in town" that ademoll mentioned (we didn't care much for it, either). We just gave them a self addressed, stamped envelope, one for each of us, and they told us the address to use. At the registration office you fill out a form saying this is your home address (the rv park) (you're not lying, it is your address at that time, you're going to move soon, though). And you fill out the normal mailing address as the A/R address. They send the voter registration card to the CG who sends it to you in the envelope you provided. We also filled out the form for absentee ballots and those come to our A/R address as does everything else having to do with voting. The cg address is only for your voter registration.

Thanks for all of your comments.
We arrived at Jellystone (what a silly name!!) this evening and will visit Alternative Resources, etc. tomorrow. We will be here two nights then off to the KOA in Interior for one night(thanks Helen) and then off to Custer (thanks Richfaa and Helen) where will be spend one week before heading to Estes Park.
Life is good!

David and Jo-Anna, if you are staying at the Beaver Lake Campground in Custer try your best to get site 60, 61 or 62 .
These are the best sites. And don't forget to go to The Purple Pie Palace for some great pie and maybe even some bison goulash if you are there the right day. ( I think it is usually Monday)

We usually stay at Red Barn. The address is Tea, SD. We registered to vote in Canton. We have used Alternative since '99 and have been pleased with it. Yes, go to Falls Park. Also, The Keg for broasted chicken. It's on 29th and Sycamore. Judy
