Tripod cutting into teflon disc

We finally got to take our rig out for the first time. We bought a tripod support for the kingpin but wasn't sure if I cranked it up real hard if it would cut a groove into the teflon disc on the kingpin. I have broken things before by turning it that last little bit. Is this a problem?
