Fresh Water Tank Purification

it's hiding somewhere in this forum - wanting to flush/purify fresh water system. What is bleach ratio to fill and flush system? Have not used storage tank yet.

I put in about a cup for a full tank of 66 gallons. Drive it a little to mix it all up and let it sit for about 24 hours. Then I filled and flushed it twice.

Make sure you run it through all the water lines, hot and cold including the outside shower and washer connections - these are often missed and will cause stagnant water taste (bugs). Include the hot water heater in the process - drain it then let the water pump fill it with the chlorinated water, then include draining/flushing it when you clear out the chlorinated water. The hot water temp isn't high enough to kill anything that grows in there.

Go to a spa/pool supply store and gets some chlorine granules. I use the 97% dichlor and a half-teaspoon easily sanitizes my tank. Much, much , much easier to get into the tank too! Just pour it into the filler hose and turn on the water. I will NEVER use bleach again!

Dichlor is chlorine. When mixed, just like household bleach, it smells like chlorine. After flushing though, no such smell remains. It is simply a concentrated, powdered form of chlorine.
