Our unit came with suburban nautilus IW60. It has been GREAT!
It has built-in freeze protection - meaning when it senses temps lower than 39* it lights the burner and the fan comes on for a short cycle. I am in Central TX and we occasionally get freezing weather, and we live out in the country so it gets colder out here than in the city (Austin). I open the low point drains in the convienience center to get ready for a freeze. I have never winterized the unit...just has not been cold enough here. The anti-freeze cycle on the heater was going off several times per minute even though the system is drained and the gas is off. It just felt like the thing was trying to wear itself out prematurely with the lighter and the fan going off soooooo often. 37* and it was firing away...click click click buzz buzz buzz. There is a switch on the back of the unit to turn off freeze protection cycle but it is behind the basement bulkhead and difficult to get at. I pulled the black 15 amp fuse and it stops the cycling. Problem solved.
