What type of gensets are used most often

We used a 3600 LPG model to keep from hauling Gas.

We, along with a lot of others, use a pair of the Honda EU2000i inverter units (great for park and boondocking). The Kipor (pretty much of a Honda knockoff) is becoming quite popular. Yamaha is another good brand. Generators installed in the 5er don't seem quite as common, mostly because of their vibration and price, I've heard, and the convenience of the inverter style of generators.

Wide open question. I think all types are used in here. It just depends on your preference.

The best bang for the buck is the portable generators that use gas and you run on the ground or in your pickup. Some folks have good luck tying two 2000K Hondas together, or the single 3600K above.

If you want on board LP fueled, its pricey but your new Montana will house up to the 5500 units and is typically roughed in for installation (heat shroud, wiring, vent in door, etc.).

Of all the accessories available for a Montana, I think generators have the least complaints, regardless of the brand or type. I don't think you can make a wrong choice providing you get at least 3000K.
