Summer place?

Being we will be full time some time after January, I been wondering about summer destinations. Being from az I know about winter places. But wondering where is the best places for spending the summer months? Happy safe camping. Jack & Janet

Jack & Janet, for us, the best part of fulltiming is that you can spend your summers anywhere you want to. During the winter months we are kind of restricted to the warmer southern climates but when spring and summer roles around we can go north south east or west. Where ever we get the notion to go we can up and go. Lorraine and I use a very simple system and that is we have no system. This summer the only commitments/reservations we had were the rallys in Virginia, New York and Indiana. Other than that we just go where ever the urge takes us.

Wagonmaster,

Summer is the opportunity to travel the far northern reaches of the nation! Upper NY, Upper Michigan, Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota are some that we have done and they are beautiful at that time of the year. Next we want to go further west, but north.

Got wheels, will roll! HA HA Glenn has a great suggestion, let er roll where ever your heart and soul direct you.

We discovered NW Montana this summer. It's hot (it is summer, after all) but not scorching and, best of all, no humidity and no bugs. Loved it ... now I really understand why RC and Samantha bought land in this area. Oh yeah, it's beautiful too!

Besides NW Montana, summer is a good time for Yellowstone and Yosemite. Crowds are bigger in the summer but with the altitude you have to allow for some areas being closed for snow in what most parts of the country call Spring and Fall. We got snowed on about two weeks ago in Island Park, ID, near Yellowstone. Crater Lake in Oregon is another with a very long snow season. May, 2003, the rim road was still under 8 to 10 feet of snow. We got to the rim ok and climbed a big snowbank to see the lake. And walked through the snow tunnels to get to the visitor center restrooms.

There is so very much to see and do in this beautiful country. We have been touring the country for 30 months (as of tomorrow, 9/21) and we find we have barely scratched the surface.
