We have fulltimers insurance on our Montana. Coverage is much like our homeowners policy was before we sold the house. Full replacement, injuries on property etc. Ours is with National Interstate and is just over $800.00 per year using a South Dakota address.

We have fulltimer coverage through Good Sam (GMAC)on the truck and trailer. The premiums are deducted monthly from our checking account so no worries about forgetting to pay a premium.

We have the same coverage as Adelmoll, also through National Interstate and South Dakota. I last paid ours last February. The premium was $600.96 for a year. The difference between ours and Adelmoll's is probably that ours is a 2003 model and theirs a 2005. The 'fulltimers' coverage part of it is a liability policy similar to a renter's insurance policy.

I forgot to add that besides the full replacement value for a comparable new unit if totaled within five years, we also have the disappearing deductible. For each year we have no claim our deductible is reduced by 20%. After 5 years, no deductible. One claim and it goes back to 100% deductible and starts the disappearing act again.

Bought our insurance through State Farm who has everything else covered. Paid $490 a year for full-replacement-coverage on ours. I looked at others but was quoted alot higher prices. Check with your agent that carries your truck and see if he can combine them.

Unfortunately, Good Sam doesn't write fulltimer policies in TX (at least they didn't when we asked last year). Our independent auto ins agent got us fulltiming RV insurance through Foremost. We now have the TV, our car and scooters and the RV bundled with this agent.

Mel, if you go through a company that specializes in auto insurance make sure the insurance on the trailer truly covers everything and not just when towing it down the road. You'll also need personal liability. For RV'ers that's often called 'fulltimers insurance'.

Steve, is that the insurance that ALT RES was pumping us toward?? Just down the building from them??
My big concern was to make sure that the rig was covered, while it is sitting here in the yard at Plainville... (especially as we had quite the raft of hail, tornadic winds and etc go through Western Ks last PM)... Great Bend got whacked pretty good...
Good news is that the rig is covered, but I am sure it isn't "fulltimers" ins. If you are pleased with your ins company Steve, I would appreciate more info.

We used John Dougherty for our agent. He is the friend of Paul's who is in that same complex, or was anyhow. He is an agent for several insurance companies. He searched and found us the best deal. For us it is National Interstate for the Montana and fulltimers insurance and Progressive (now Drive) for the truck. You will need coverage on the Montana, more than what you get as a rider on auto policies (maybe some cover more than others) and I would recommend fulltimers insurance. That is a liability policy, like you have with homeowners or renters insurance. John is well-versed in the various options.

Again Steve and Vicki, we agree with you 100%. We are very comfortable with this insurance on our Montana and any property it sits on. We have the same agents and ANY questions were answered completly. We enjoy doing business with them. We also have our Midicare suppliment with them. Something you guys don't have to worry about for a while but we are happy with the choices they provided. The nice thing about Dougherty is that they do provide choices. My kind of agent.
