Gatlinburg CGs
Looking for any input on CGs in the Gatlinburg area. We want to be within range of the trolley. We will be there a little after the Rally - mid-Oct. We were there last year, but a little too far out. The Craftsman's Fair (Fall) is the 9th-26th of Oct and Cheryl absolutely had a blast last year in there. I am aware that CGs are full that time of year (fair/fall colors), and that CGs are pricey there.

We are going to Gatlinburg in september and are staying at the Smoky Bear Campground which is 13 miles from Gatlinburg. May be a little too far for you. We have never been to this cg but it is suppose to be a 5 star. We will see.

I have stayed at Claybough's on Wiers Valley road. The trolley went to the campground the last time we stayed there. There is also Creekside campground on the same road and then there is also another campground on that road as well.

Sailer, I use to live in Weaverville, now live in Hendersonville, and there is no Creekside campground in Weaverville. There is a campground on the river near Weaverville, I think it is called French Broad River campground. There is a Creekside campground in Bat Cave, near Lake Lure, about 40 miles from Weaverville. If that is the one you are talking about, might want to check reviews of the place, not spoken to highly of.

Dave,
I know you asked about Gatlinburg, but thought I would share anyway. We are staying at the Eagle's Nest in Pigeon Forge as I write this. It is a Passport America park and is $19.00 per night including taxes. The Pigeon Forge Trolley comes right to the front of the park and will connect you with the Gatlinburg Trolley. They have WIFI and cable TV at no additional cost. We have stayed here for several years and enjoy it. Hope this helps.

Twin Creek in Gatlinburg is a very nice park. The trolly comes to the front gate and goes to various locations in area. The park is beatiful and all amenities. We stayed there last year and extended our stay, mainly because of the rv park.

We just stayed a week at Creekside in Wears valley. Nice campground, people are friendly. Only complaint I have is that the sewer connection stuck out a good foot above the ground. Took some engineering to make it work. Trolley will drop you off at your door. Be warned though that getting anywhere on the trolley adds alot of time. Traffic was just stop and go. There is a Kroger right around the corner also.

Thanks, David. The rate is $50/night there ($45 - Good Sam). We have been by that CG and we know it is nice. Just not sure we want to spend $45/night. Might though.
Mike, thanks for the insight. $19/night seems really reasonable (PA). I will look at both parks.
Anyone familiar with the PA rules for Creekside?

We were at Eagles Nest last October and really liked it there. We took the trolley to Gatlinburg every time we went there but found it easier to drive our truck when we went to Pigeon Ford. It was a lot faster getting there then the trolley.

Dave,
Twin Creek is where we had the tree sap problem that stained 1/2 our siding and roof from the tree sap. It took lots of elbow grease, straight awesome and Mr. Eraser to get the stain off of the rig. It was a nice RV park, but we wouldn't stay there again. We were backed up to the tree, but it still stained other parts too.

Dave,
If you're headed I40 to Nashville, think about staying a nite or two at Deer Run RV Resort near Crossville, TN. We're spending 2 months there this summer (buying a stick house nearby in Fairfield Glade) and would love to meet you guys!

Oops! Messed up. I meant the PA rules for Eagles Nest... Lamar?
Mike, I was just admonished by some family members for not stopping in to see my cousin in TN when passing through. I asked, "OK, Fine. Where is he?" The response was, "Crossville". I told them I would look them up, so that might work.
*On Edit~ As a caution, Mike... Everyone says they'd like to meet us - until they meet us...
